Somber Moments

So many days have passed
And I can still feel you beside me
The warm sun of summer is fading
And soon winter will come
The days of you and me will drift into the water
And I will be left sitting here in the autumn drenched trees
Retracing you fingertips from the last time you touched me

My lips will once more be seduced by what use to kiss them
And my arms will feel content, for they too will have forgotten, if only for a moment, that you are gone
When night falls I will reach for you knowing you’re not there, but hoping I am only dreaming
My eyes will close and I will return to childhood clicking my heels three times …
Whispering …
I am not alone
I am not alone
I am NOT alone

But in the end...
My bed, that use to be ours, will be empty
Your beautiful skin will no longer be beside me
And when I wake, your smile will, like you, have gone.

Poignant words Tara - the reference to your childhood doubly moving.
How apropos your words in the sidebar.
