Yesterday

Watching the sun dance in mid-afternoon
His arms resting around my waist
Yesterday-30 years ago

Broken Woman

 How do I forget
let go of your hand
and find another

What was it about the taste of your lips
that left me here waiting for your return

In my devastation I have lost the woman I was
she no longer exists
Her bags were packed
and her memory erased

When did things change
When did your hands stop loving me
and become cannons of color

So many questions...
My friends say, "Move on, forget him,
find someone that loves you."
It is here I must ask, "Didn't you?"

Where did all those nights go
and what did they mean
if all I have left of you are
open wounds that stop me from breathing

I can not remember what it is like to be held by anymore
nor can I place the last time I heard I love you
or recall a day I have not lived in fear

Because of you, I am now a builder of walls made of pain and anger
An invisible soul that has disappeared and become what you wanted
A Broken woman
